Introduction to Sociology is a 2-credit course, which provides the student with an analysis of the connection between the Industrial and Political revolutions that occurred in the 18th century, and how the outcome on European societies led to various attempt by the founding fathers of Sociology to study society scientifically.  The justification of sociology as science is discuss in addition to the emergence sociology as a field of study. Further, the course analyses the relationship between sociology and other social science subjects. Basic concepts of Sociological analysis such as roles, status, society, culture, language norms, values etc. are thoroughly introduced. More still sociological conceptions of the social structure and its dynamics, the process of socialization and use of its products to channel behavior towards certain directions will be taught.
